DUNKIRK TO NIJMEGEN CYCLE RIDE
Saturday 13th June 2009

This year On the 13th June 2009 a group of 12 ex-Grenadiers will be departing Dunkirk, France on bicycles destined for Nijmegen, Holland.  The Cycle Ride will take five days and will cover approximately 250 miles. to raise money for members of the regiment injured whilst on operational tours so we would appreciate if you could dig deep and give to a worthy cause

This charity Cycle Ride is in aid of “The Colonels Fund Grenadier Guards”, Registered Charity Number:  1062257.  All proceeds go directly to this charity.

The money we collected last year has helped a number of family's and soliders including, a young Guardsman Scott Blaney (22) who lost his right leg and due to the support of the Colonel’s Fund for injured Grenadiers, he was able to return to duty and carry on his career in the Army as an amputee  (Click here to read the full story)

I would be extremely grateful for any support that you are able to give, this can be done by one of the following ways

  1. Sponsor forms can be downloaded from the forum
  2. www.bmycharity.com/dunkirktonijmegen or (Click here) this is the same website as last year, just been updated.
  3. Or by cheque made payable to:

Another reason I have decided to compete again this year is due to The Grenadier Guards being deployed to Afghanistan again in October 2009 for 6 months, and the sad truth is there will be some of the guys that may come back seriously maimed or even worse killed.

If you feel that you can help with receiving sponsorship I’ll be more than happy to hand out some forms.

Coming soon....

Best advise from Ex-Grenadiers on leaving the army:

As a soldier you will receive resettlement advice and information to assist you to prepare for, and find, suitable civilian employment following your Service career, you will need to do you home work to discover what course you wish to complete and most of all who will provide this to you...... be aware most of these company's just want your military resettlement money, you need a good resettlement course that is directed towards Armed Forces Resettlement.
